“Earth Day worked because of the spontaneous response at the grassroots level. We had neither the time nor resources to organize 20 million demonstrators and the thousands of schools and local communities that participated. That was the remarkable thing about Earth Day. It organized itself. It was a gamble, but it worked.”
- Senator Gaylord Nelson, Founder of Earth Day
Here’s a new way to think globally and EAT locally! Bring family and friends together to appreciate the remarkable role food plays in our lives, our family histories, and our planet. The Earth Dinner is meant to recognize that the farmer is the real force behind the food we eat, and the more we can support local growers, the healthier and more nutritious every meal will be.

There are many ways you can be a part of an Earth Dinner. You could start small by hosting a small dinner or kids’ Earth party in your home, or you could go big and host a fundraiser for your favorite local organization. Big or small, they each make a difference in their own special way. By supporting local, sustainable and organic agriculture, we’re ensuring that our children will have the chance to enjoy the earth as much, or even more than we did.
